French Host Accommodation

If you would like to experience a true flavour of Provence with a wonderful French host then we can organise your accommodation with M. Francis Jullien. A member of a long-established and well-known local agricultural family, M. Jullien has been part of the Language In Provence family for the last 20 years and is a great favourite with all our students.

M. Jullien – or Francis as he is known to our students – lives in an impressive 18th century village house, ‘L’Ancien Palais’, about ten or  minutes’ walk from the school. The house is classed as a historic monument and was the original ‘seigneur’s’ house in the village. It later became the village courthouse before passing into private ownership in the 19th century. There is a mass of historical details in the house which M. Jullien is happy to share with you, including drawings etched onto the ceiling of the wine cellar by Italian prisoners during the Napoleonic wars and a secret staircase.

Two of the comfortable bedrooms chez Francis

M. Jullien’s home offers 4 comfortable and well-appointed ensuite bedrooms for the use of our students. Each room has a TV, kettle and refrigerator, comfortable bed and easy chairs. Two of the bedrooms have far-reaching views over the beautiful Luberon valley. There is a separate kitchen/dining room with cooking facilities for students who wish to prepare a snack or light meal, or sit and chat. There is also a washing machine that you can use and a hairdryer in each room.

Our weekly ‘package’ with M. Jullien includes 6 nights bed and breakfast accommodation and a delicious welcome dinner with wine. M. Jullien also offers optional dinner on 3 other evenings during the week at a cost of 30 euro (3 course dinner payable direct to him). He is an excellent cook and produces tasty, fresh local food. Each generous 3 course dinner at his table is accompanied by wine and conversation!

Arrival with M. Jullien is normally on Sunday before your course begins and departure is on Saturday. This arrangement is flexible.

For those staying in other accommodation it is sometimes possible to organise dinners with M. Jullien if he is catering for other students. The convivial moments around his table provide not only an excellent opportunity to practise your French in a relaxed and natural way but also a means to gain insight into local life and culture in a way rarely experienced by tourists.

Highly recommended by everyone!

From 80-95 euro per night for double room with private bathroom, daily breakfast and welcome dinner .

Optional dinner with wine (to be booked in the morning) : 30 euro

Accommodation and additional meal costs to be paid directly to M. Jullien.
